Hurricane Sandy blew through here on Monday/Tuesday leaving behind scenes like this one-and this is MY back yard! First it knocked the heavy grill right over, then knocked the kayaks off of the benches they were on (as you can see) then later- a huge gust blew and I heard a crack! It was this big oak tree in my back yard- right behind the house. I watched it fall over taking down branches from two other trees with it, right onto my shed- containing my motorcycle (with no insurance for this sort of thing!). Luckily the branches didn't go through the roof and my bike is ok (I think, I haven't actually gone inside since the door is blocked). That was about the worst of it- oh and my car battery died for no explainable reason. But, no one was injured, thank God.Speaking of which- did I mention that the tree could have- SHOULD have fallen right onto the house where I was painting? (In a room with large glass windows). The wind was coming from that way, but for some strange (?) reason, it decided to fall sideways and not on me. If you look closely at the photo you can see it. Hmmmmm Guess what I was painting. Yep- angels. So....I'm thinking there could have been a little Divine intervention going on there.
